Our Science
The Science Behind Glouren
Glouren builds at-home red light and near-infrared therapy devices, along with complementary recovery products like heat therapy and transdermal magnesium. Here's a plain-language look at the technology inside our devices and how we think about safety and honesty in our claims.
What red and near-infrared light are
Red light sits at roughly 620-660 nanometers (nm) on the visible spectrum. Near-infrared (NIR) light sits just beyond what the eye can see, typically 800-850nm. Both have been studied for decades under the umbrella term "photobiomodulation" — the general study of how specific light wavelengths interact with skin and tissue. Red light is generally understood to act closer to the skin's surface, while near-infrared light penetrates further into tissue.
We are not a medical or research institution, and we don't run our own clinical trials. Photobiomodulation is an active, evolving area of independent scientific research, and results vary by study, device, dose, and individual. We link out to independent, published research where relevant rather than asserting our own clinical claims.
How our devices are built
- Glouren Infrared Therapy Waist Belt — 105 dual-chip LEDs emitting 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light together, controlled by an external handheld controller with an LED display, USB-powered at 20W, with a 5–30 minute timer in 5-minute increments.
- Glouren LED Face Mask — 90 LEDs across 7 light modes (red, blue, near-infrared, and combination modes).
- Glouren Face Wand — 620nm red light, 470nm blue light, plus warming and cold-compression modes.
- Glouren Warming Relief Belt — carbon fiber heating wires with dual vibration motors, 3 heat levels and 3 vibration modes.
- Glouren Magnesium Oil Spray — topical, transdermal magnesium oil in a 2 fl oz (60ml) glass bottle.
Exact specifications for each device are listed on its product page, and we update them whenever we verify new details against manufacturing documentation.
